From “I Should” to “I Love, I Choose”

Meng Chen | Bilingual Relational and Self-love Coach for Tech Professionals

This is for you if …

1. You are working in tech and feeling empty while achieving a lot of things, or keep stuck in procrastination.

2. You are a giving mom who has taken care of others so much and yet still feels guilty after big emotions, and you want to feel more ease and enjoyment with yourself.

3. You have done much work for inner growth but still feeling unsettled about who to trust or how to make changes on this path.

4. You are a content creator caught up postponing and wants to create consistently with focus and ease.

Or you are simply resonating with what I am saying here. 🙂

How Things Shift

Outer world

From Judging to Connecting

Real connection at home and at work starts when we drop all the “shoulds” and see people as more than the “problems” we label them. So we don’t feel isolated, have to do it all myself, and hold big emotions constantly. With your partner, your kids, your coworkers—relationships feel less draining and more loving and enjoyable.

Clients’ stories

Her Story of delaying getting her master’s degree for seven years. Every year she wanted to complete her long thesis, but the research dragged on and the process became harder and harder. After months of coaching, she opened up to me about this long-held secret. When she stepped out the usual worries and thoughts about how things “should work”, she found a lighter way of finishing her degree by taking more courses and she graduated!

His Story of postponing on switching jobs: He was stressed about the challenging relationships at work and at home. For over a year, he kept postponing on preparing interviews for a new job. During coaching, he found out the habit and mindset of “following and complying”, and had been suppressed his own ideas. When he was able to communicate and do things more authentically, he found energy to step out of “I will prepare interview tomorrow.”, and found a ideal job at a large tech company.

FAQ

Q: How is coaching different from therapy?

Therapy’s purpose is healing. It’s like when you broke your leg during skiing: you go see the doctor first, not the gym to see your fitness coach. Once your leg has healed a little bit, you may go see your coach to work on the body, and sometimes you will see both of them. Professional coaching’s purpose is to support you in creating the life you long for, so you can have a life and a career with more enjoyment.

Q: Does this include career coaching

Career Challenges This often shows up as a symptom of living by external expectations or the “shoulds.” Once you are able to observe that, you get to set it free and choose to focus on what you truly love to contribute at that moment. An example is one of my clients who was procrastinating because she realized she viewed every output she produced as going through an exam. Once she shifted away from this exam mindset, she was able to get the work done in an efficient and easeful way.

Q: What if I can’t afford to quit my job like you did?

You don’t have to quit anything. This work is about reconnecting with your authentic self. What we think creates the reality we see, inner shifts with consistent action transform your experience.

Q: How quickly will I see results?

Many clients notice shifts in the first few sessions—more presence, less internal struggle, moments of genuine enjoyment and getting long-postponed things done. Deep transformation unfolds over months.

Q: How is this different from executive coaching or career coaching?

Executive coaching or career coaching typically focus on external goals. Coaching with me will focus on your entire person and less on telling you what to do with specific tactics. Probably around 20% of the session (if you need it) can focus on mentoring, like brainstorming what to do or sharing from my experiences based on my TPM and engineering days.

Q: What does an ICF-certified coach mean?

ICF means International Coaching Federation. It is the leading global professional organization for coaches. ICF certification requires: Documenting coaching hours, mentor coaching and passing a very rigorous knowledge assessment. Having this certification means this coach has met a verified standard of training, proficiency, and professional practice. I hold an ICF ACC credential and I am also a licensed academy trainer with the Academy for Coaching Excellence.
